SPL Smart Protein Layers

Kit for easy normalization of Western blots

The SPL kit enables the simple but very precise detection of how much total protein of a sample is present on the blot membrane at the time of target detection. The ratio of target signal to its corresponding total protein is used for exact normalization. Staining of the membrane or quantitative detection of endogenous proteins (house-keeping proteins) is therefore not necessary. Further SPL features are:

We recommend:

A blue/green transilluminator can be used instead of a UV transilluminator. The function corresponds to the UV model but is more suitable in terms of occupational safety.

ChemoStar Plus

The ChemoStar Plus is identical to the ChemoStar Touch, but uses an external PC and monitor. This system is a powerful and faithful companion for Western blots and other chemiluminescence and fluorescence detections. In addition to its robust all-metal construction, special features include

Configuration options

The protein sample is labeled before electrophoresis by adding fluorescent smart labels. The now fluorescent proteins can thus be detected in the gel and on the blot (approx. 100x more sensitive than e.g. Coomassie). For the precise normalization of Western blots, the following is used as usual a) the amount of target signal is detected (e.g. via fluorescent secondary antibodies or ECL) and b) the amount of sample (total protein) on the blot at that time is detected.

Depending on your type of target detection and your fluorescence imaging capabilities, we offer different SPL kits to visualize the total protein.
